Who are we? What are we doing?
Well, right now, it's just me. You probably ended up here from my blog. I'm a skeptic, studying psychology at a big ole university. I want to become a therapist. Even at the excellent program I picked, I'm finding professors peddling woo and alternative medicine, or suggesting that the way I feel about a therapy trumps empirical data about how well that therapy helps other people. I'm not okay with that. And I know I can't be the only one.
This project is a direct result of my experiences, and an attempt to help others. I will be collecting information on programs in the U.S. (for now, but I'd love to expand), and which have professors recommending alt-med or supernatural solutions, and which are focusing on rational, evidence-based research and treatment.
If you've been involved in one of those programs in the last ten years, submit your review here! Are you a student considering a graduate program, or a psychology major in college? Take a look at our list, state-by-state.
Do you blog? Tweet? Talk to people? Get us out there! We can do the most good by having the most anectdata.
(Right now, we're just getting started--give us a chance to collect some data and start organizing ourselves. Most pages are under construction)
